20170530_195541With just a one point advantage separating Grant Duinkerken from George Tristao Jr, the pressure was on both drivers…

After qualifying 1 and 2 the pair of potential champs started side by side (5th and 6th) for the final 25 lap main of the point season. Duinkerken jumped out ahead of Tristao early. Tristao made a bold move to pass Duinkerken, but tangled with another car and spun almost to a stop and somehow kept it moving only losing one spot!

With eventual winner Jesse Mack checked out along with second place finisher Jared Faria all eyes were on the battle between Duinkerken and Tristao. Duinkerken seemed to have third place and the title wrapped up until Tristao found the high line late in the race ane made his move on the last corner of the last lap nudging Duinkerken out at the line by just .001! The pair ended in a points tie (595 points each) with Tristao winning the 2017 WRS Championship by tiebreaker thanks to his win on August 5th.
